Leadership: LIGHT AND SHADOW

Leadership: LIGHT AND SHADOW

Good art contains both light and shadow. A happy life is one filled not only with sunshine, but one which rides on the waves to produce beauty. The greatest musicians, as a rule, are those who know how to bring LIGHT AND SHADOWS

All the masterpieces of art contain both light and shadow. A happy life is one filled not only with sunshine, but one which uses both light and shadow to produce beauty. The greatest musicians, as a rule, are those who know how to bring song out of sadness.

Let's take for example, the life of Horatio Spafford who wrote the song "It is Well With My Soul". Between 1870 and 1881, he lost all his investment to the great fire of Chicago and six of his children to a boat mishap and scarlet fever.

What about Fanny Crosby, her spirit aglow with faith in Christ, she saw more with her sightless eyes than most of us do with normal vision. She has over 8,000 songs/hymns including "Blessed Assurance", "Pass Me Not O Gentle Saviour", "To God Be The Glory" to her credit; indeed, some of the great songs which cheer our hearts and lives. She has also written about 1,000 secular poems.

These people weren't perfect, God doesn't expect leaders to be perfect, but to be whole. The leader is a guide. His job is to help those behind see the path in front clearly, be it negative or positive. (That's why their punishment is never light) . Despite his or her human frailties, a leader can effectively guide those who follow. A guide gets a person or group safely to a planned destination.

Let's borrow the Hebrew word for “guide” to get a clue as to what God expects from leaders:

A guide is a spiritual head who unites and directs people in their walk with God.
A guide takes people on the straight path that leads to fellowship with God.
A guide gives accurate and godly counsel to those who need it.
A guide leads with gentleness and trustworthiness, making others feel safe.
A guide bases his or her direction on the Spirit and the Word of God.

You are here as a guide to someone. Whether you know it or not. And someday, it will be required of you to give account for those people you "helped" down the path to "life" and the others that went towards "death".

So you can choose to allow the shadows take prominence or you can work at getting the light to shine more, WHERE EVER YOU ARE. Not because any one is watching you (Eye-Servant) but because you seeking to leave a positive foot print in the life of the next man.song out of sadness.
