Singing in the Storm...

Though we have brought forth some fruit in this and have a joyful hope that we are “plants of his own right hand planting,” yet there are times when we feel very barren. Prayer is lifeless, love is cold, faith is weak, each grace in the garden of our heart languishes and droops. We are like flowers in the hot sun, requiring the refreshing shower.

In such a condition what are we to do? The text in Isaiah 54:1 is addressed to us in such a state to “Sing, O barren, break forth and cry aloud.” SING? When i am broke, jobless and maybe even sick? Sing? When there are explosions on my every side? Who is to protect me from all of these? How can I even think about a supposed journey? Even when I say okay to singing, what can I sing about? I cannot talk about the present, and even the past looks full of barrenness. Ah! I can sing of the pain..... Yeah....that sounds real cool....the pain....the hunger....the frustrations....the betrayals from "my friends"....

My friends.....hahahahaha....what a laugh... Is that a concept that has weight these days? Friendship.....Phew....let's leave that for another day....

Today, my quest is to figure out how I can sing when there is no audience.... How can I sing when the microphones will not pick my voice.... Who will dance to my tune.... Yet sing I will.
Why? I am alive. Yep... There is hope as long as there is life.

You see, the clouds look dark only for a while....yeah...it's either the rain's about to come down or it's the night season....they all pass. Gradually, but definitely, these two reasons for the dark clouds always pass. So while we wait for the passage, I'll prepare myself. I will sing aloud to clear my throat, tune my guitar and piano so that when the time is right I will be ready.

The environment might not be right, everything might be failing but allowing me to fail with every thing will bring the solution. Instead a decision to stand in the face of the storm....yep. For when it passes, what next? Won't I be a bigger laughing stock if I am not ready?
